Hotel Reception Furniture
Hotel reception areas are generally grand spacious areas offering guests and visitors their first exposure to people and the hotel furniture. First impressions are always important and therefore it is essential that the furniture and decor is tasteful and of course robust. Hotels invest heavily in furnishing their reception areas in order to create a welcoming and warm ambiance. The choice of fabrics and colours is important both from a design perspective and in terms of durability.

Some guests may frequent the front of house area, and quite often will have drinks or food in the area. This can subject the furniture to unecessary wear and tear and spillage.

Comfort and style is of the utmost importance for a reception area as quite often it may be used for hosting business meetings, afternoon teas, and other social gatherings.

Marriott Vacation Club’s second resort in The Palm Beaches is anticipating more villas for additional guests with spectacular ocean views by early 2013. A recent topping-out ceremony marked the structural completion of the final 19-story tower making way for the build-out of 78 additional two-bedroom/two-bath villas which will combine for a resort total of 159 occupiable villas.

Since the opening of the first phase two years ago, the beachfront resort located on Florida’s well known Singer Island at 3200 North Ocean Drive in Riviera Beach has maintained ninety percent plus average annual occupancy levels presenting significant demand for the second and final tower. Marriott’s Oceana Palms represents the brand’s 50th resort and was designed by San Francisco and Miami-based SB Architects and has also received strong support from Mayor Thomas Masters and officials from the city of Riviera Beach.

“Our Oceana Palms resort is truly spectacular and offers a very appealing and unique high-rise, beachfront resort experience for our Owners and guests to enjoy,” said Lee Cunningham, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer-North America and Caribbean, Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation. “We’re very pleased with the progress on the second phase and upon completion look forward to welcoming more of our Owners to vacation at this beautiful resort and destination,” said Cunningham.

The second phase will offer sweeping views of the ocean from spacious 1,100 square foot villa interiors that are vibrant and contemporary, complementing the traditional Palm Beach lifestyle. Villas feature a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen with GE stainless steel appliances; generous living and dining areas; multiple LG flat-panel televisions with DVD players; an oversized shower with multiple shower heads in the master suite; and washer/dryer. Each villa accommodates up to 8 guests.

Both 19-story towers have a contemporary architectural style with subtle references to the Art Deco motif that is very prevalent in the architectural history of South Florida. Complementing the existing pools, The MarketPlaceSM convenience store and “Reflections” pool bar and grill, the second phase will also accommodate a 3,200 square foot fitness center, “the Den” teen lounge, and back-of-house office space on the first floor in addition to six more floors for parking. The landscape will feature a prominent cascading water feature and a “great lawn” and fire pit for games and gatherings.

>> leggi tutto
>> leggi tutto

Berlin, January 26, 2010 – Design Hotels™ announces 35 new member hotels. With the latest new member – The Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam – Design Hotels™ increases its portfolio to 200 hotels. The Conservatorium, from the dream team behind Mamilla Hotel, Piero Lissoni and Georgi Akirov, joins Design Hotels™ together with an array of urban hubs and remote getaways. The 35 newest additions offer a mix of global influences, local flair and eclectic design. wwww.designhotels.com/200

“This is an exciting year with 200 member hotels and we are delighted that The Conservatorium Hotel marks this occasion,” says Claus Sendlinger, founder and CEO of Design Hotels™. “More than a numerical milestone it reflects that with measured growth focused on quality, our portfolio has grown in terms of geography, diversity, and above all, the community of creative individuals who are the soul of the hotels and the DNA of our brand. The new destinations reflect that while European hoteliers are continuing the path of innovation, entrepreneurs in North America, Africa, Asia and Oceania are also forging ahead with creative new concepts.”

The Local Connection
Throughout 2010, Design Hotels™ welcomed a diverse range of hotels to its portfolio. While very different in concept, the new member hotels share one of the company’s most important criteria for membership: a deep connection to and awareness of their locality. This quality enables them to reflect, refine and even define their neighborhoods. For instance, Georgi Akirov, owner of The Conservatorium Hotel is transforming Amsterdam’s former music conservatory, an iconic landmark building. In Stockholm’s central square, Italian-born brothers Alessandro and Stefano Catenacci have revived two glorious 19th century buildings to create Nobis Hotel. Also known as ‘Stockholm’s new living room’ the contemporary luxury hotel features many public areas for locals and travelers to interact.

Art Meets Design
Contemporary art is a key component of several new properties. In Athens Dakis Joannou, art collector and visionary hotelier, is opening a third iconic new property after Semiramis Hotel and Periscope. New Hotel, opening in May, will be a living piece of art by Brazilian design icons Humberto and Fernando Campana. At The Met Hotel in Thessaloniki, Christina Chandris has left a very personal mark on her family’a property by fusing a gallery with a hotel. With the soon-to-open Templar Hotel in Toronto, exciting things are also happening in Canada. Local design hero Del Terrelonge and partner John Wee Tom are unifying custom-built furnishings by Italian brand Poliform and eclectic art installations within a modernist glass-front building.

The Rural Escape
Rural destinations are also on the rise. In Morocco, a restaurateur, an architect and a journalist will open their first hotel The Great Getaway Marrakech Hotel & Spa in July 2011. Located on the legendary ‘Road to Amizmiz,’ which leads to the High Atlas Mountains, the complex of luxury tents, private lodge and riads invites guests to an adventure off the beaten track. At Kenoa-Exclusive Beach Spa & Resort in Barra de São Miguel, Brazil, first-time hotelier Pedro Marques has worked with emerging architect Osvaldo Tenório to create an edgy eco-chic retreat.

Berlin, November 24, 2010 – Whether the reason is soul-searching, or just an excuse for some time out, a visit to the spa is the perfect antidote to modern living. Design Hotels™ presents three member hotels which exceed all expectations, offering everything from treatments using local coffee beans to dream interpretation sessions. The destination and wellness spa at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach takes inspiration from ancient bathing traditions to create a holistic and communal spa experience. With outdoor spa facilities including mud baths and a roman waterfall, as well as an extensive range of innovative treatments, the hotel is a one-stop-shop to rejuvenate and revive. For a Balinese spa getaway Alila Villas Soori offers a remote and picturesque setting next to deserted blacksand beaches. The spa is hidden beneath a pond, giving it a serene under-the-water ambience, and treatments use natural ingredients including locally grown coffee. For long-lasting effects, the spa at La Réserve Ramatuelle on the French Riviera aims to teach its guests a new lifestyle for a greater quality of life. There is a sic-day program, the Ultimate Regenerating Experience, which include a medical assessment with a doctor, tailored treatments and nutrition advice according to each individual’s needs. It is a unique approach to well-being through weight-loss, sculpting and revitalizing the body.

The Standard Spa, Miami Beach
This 105 room holistic and hydrotherapy spa hotel, located in a lushly landscaped island on the waters of Biscayne bay, is inspired by global bathing cultures, self-teaching, community and healing. Based on the shared rituals of ancient bathing traditions, the hotel encourages communal bathing with its Turkish hamam, Roman waterfall, aroma steam room, sauna and mud baths. The bayside infinity pool offers a stunning waterfront view, and the tropical gardens have a fire pit and swing pavilion. The spa offers an extensive menu of treatments and activities, from sound therapy using Tibetan singing bowls to nutrition classes. Some guest rooms feature private terraces with outdoor soaking tubs, perfect for a relaxing bath in serene surroundings.

Alila Villas Soori, Bali
Hidden beneath the resort’s reflective pond at reception level, the spa at this luxurious all-villa hotel provides a restful sanctuary for all. The spa has an aqua roof that fills it with a soothing spectrum of watery light. Treatments combine ancient Asian healing techniques with age-old beauty recipes using fresh, natural, quality ingredients. The ‘beauty and balance’ treatment uses the grounds of locally grown coffee to leave the skin toned and glowing, and can be done with a partner in the privacy of their own steam room. The ‘signature spa suite’ features three segregated rooms, one for dry therapies, one for wet treatments and another for changing and showering which also features a whirlpool. The resort’s setting lends itself to relaxation and rejuvenation, with panoramic ocean views, sea breezes and deserted black-sand beaches where guests can walk, or horse ride. For a refreshing dip, all villas come with their own private pool, or there is also an infinity pool with views across the glistening ocean.
Design Hotels™ presents three hotels in Germany and the Netherlands where the interiors vary from the kooky to the wonderfully sophisticated. In Hamburg, two member hotels show how different design experiences can be. 25hours Hotel has a funky, bright and fun interior using high-end retro design furnishings, while The George’s ‘New British’ style combines dark and luxurious furnishings to create a modern take on the traditional English club. In the Netherlands, Kruisherenhotel-Maastricht, designed to be a ‘museum of contemporary 20th century design,’ has a highly innovative interior that combines the ancient features of a monastery with the modern.

25Hours Hotel Hamburg No.1, Germany
Surprise, seduction and vigor are the basis of the 25hours Hotel’s interior concept. Located in a former office building in Hamburg’s district of Bahrenfeld, the hotel has a distinctive stylish interior which uses chic and playful sixties and seventies-inspired design details. Created by the German design team 3Meta, the space was designed for creative people who love experimentation. As well as showcasing retro designs and unique pieces of furniture, the team has created an innovative lighting concept that transforms the mood of the interior throughout the day. At the entrance, 420 convex chrome mirrors stud the black, curved reception desk, and inside hand-tufted pile rugs from Kasthall, mod Brionvega television sets and spun-metal table lamps from Flos create a young, groovy feel. Public areas are dipped in warm pinks, reds and oranges, whereas guestrooms are cool retreats resplendent in pale blues or watery greens. The result is a funky, urban retreat where playful interiors invite people to mingle, relax and have fun.
www.designhotels.com/25hours_hotel

Kruisherenhotel-Maastricht, Netherlands
Aimed at being a ‘museum of contemporary 20th century design’ Kruisherenhotel-Maastricht’s interior design goes far beyond that of a normal hotel. Housed in a cloister complex of a 15th century monastery, the old Gothic exterior contrasts spectacularly with a chic modern interior. The open church space was divided into various levels by the interior architect Henk Vos and furnished with a range of top-flight designs by the likes of Le Corbusier, Starck, Newson, Wanders, the Eames brothers, Mackintosh, Rietveld and Piet-Hein Eek. All the rooms are furnished differently and the communal areas have been decorated with unique pieces. Ingo Maurer, a worldfamous lighting architect, has implemented intriguing pieces of light installation artwork to the exterior and interior of the property, including a spectacular entrance tunnel with an inviting golden glow. Inside, modern elements such as a glass elevator connecting the church to the monastery area highlight the many unique spaces of this ancient building.
www.designhotels.com/kruisheren

The George, Hamburg, Germany
With a ‘New British’ style The George takes a decidedly modern and light-hearted twist to English tradition and design. A tour through the hotel is like a stroll through London: inspiring and visually varied, with exotic influences including Indian saris. Paying homage to the exclusive English club, the hotel evokes the old while lending a touch of timeless glamour to the new. There are regally designed common spaces with striking leather furniture, meeting rooms with dark timber flooring and a cozy, sophisticated wallpapered library. The primary design scheme is held in black and white, yet the contrast is softened with warm dark woods and spots of color. These heavier elements are skillfully balanced with gauzy fabrics, glass and an intelligent lighting design. Craftsmanship plays an important role in the interior design and handmade fabrics, carpets and unique pieces were selected by the owner Kai Hollmann from fine antiques dealers and specialist furniture boutiques during his travels.

With its spectacular glass-and-steel dome as well as extensive outdoor terrace, the new O2 Lounge on the 12th floor of The Ritz-Carlton offers a perfect vantage point to gaze across the rooftops of Moscow and marvel at the magnificent architecture of the nearby Kremlin.

Featuring a black tiled floor, ultrachic cocoon chairs covered in red velvet brocade, white leather stools and huge benches, this smart venue is the latest hotspot to grace the Russian capital.
Opened in July 2007, the RitzCarlton is located in the fashionable Tverskaya neighbourhood, right in the heart of downtown Moscow.
The guest rooms are not only the most spacious on offer anywhere in the city but also come with every conceivable comfort and service.

“Having such an impressive presence in Moscow is part of our strategy to develop world-class hotels in cities where the economy is growing and the demand for luxury products and excellent services is high”, says Simon F. Cooper, President of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, in explanation of the decision to open a new five-star address in the Russian capital. No sojourn at The RitzCarlton would be complete without a visit to the Jeroboam Restaurant and a chance to sample the “cuisine vitale” of Michelin three-star chef Heinz Winkler. Paintings by the German artist Junior Toscanelli, depicting scenes from Baden-Baden and Combray, complement the contrasting play of modern and classical styles. Meanwhile, wine aficionados will enjoy the intimate and rustic charm of the Petrus Wine Room – the perfect setting to sample from some 800 rare vintages. Whisky buffs, too, will find a selection of older and more recent vintages of Macallan Single Malt. Alternatively, the Lobby Lounge with its library-like atmosphere is an ideal location to see and be seen. Here, a vodka sommelier is on hand to advise on selection of this most Russian of drinks and explain the various nuances of the numerous sorts on offer.

Experts in opulence This ultimate hotel experience has been created by the renowned hotel designer Peter Silling and his team.
“Guests should be able to sense and feel the luxury for which they are paying a lot of money. It’s only when they get to savour this opulence in a variety of forms, materials and compositions that they feel perfectly at ease”, says Silling in explanation of his elemental aim. His team of architects, designers and interior designers cooperate on a whole variety of projects across the globe. Peter Silling & Associates, who have already designed five-star hotels for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in Berlin and Bangalore, operate out of both Cologne and Hong Kong – a strategy that gives the company and its 65 employees the flexibility required to respond to the needs of the international market.

Together with Susan Harmsworth from ESPA, the leading spa specialist in England, Peter Silling and his team also designed the lavish spa facilities at The Ritz-Carlton in Moscow. Those seeking a break
from the stylish hustle and bustle of this busy metropolis and the hotel itself can submerge in this stylish oasis of wellness and repose.
Exuding an atmosphere that combines luxury with a whiff of simplicity, the 2,000-square-metre complex boasts a swimming pool, fitness centre with state-of-the-art exercise equipment, 14 treatment
rooms and a spa café. Highlights include the star-studded ceiling and bottom of the pool, golden mosaic wall coverings and countless lighting effects designed to create a magical ambience. Boasting a clear design with precise and colourful accents, this is a spa guaranteed to soothe the soul of visitors to Moscow.
